Patricia Dreyer
Patricia Dreyer has an MS degree in Reading Education/Computer Education from Dowling College and a BS degree in Education for SUNY Oneonta. She is a member of the International Reading Association, a membership association of literacy professionals and has been an Assistant Professor who has taught at Briarcliffe College for over 14 years. Dreyer is in the Office Technology Department and teaches the computer applications classes. She also teaches Reading skills and the Software Environments class for the Technology department. She have been recognized in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" in 2004 and 2005. Teachers are selected for this honor because they “made a difference” in the life of one of their students. Dreyer was a “Career Education Corporation - Educator of the Year Nominee” for the year 2004. She received the "Outstanding Member of the Faculty Award", which was awarded at the 2003 graduation. That same year she was nominated for the "CEC Educator of the Year Award" from Briarcliffe, Patchogue. This award honors exceptional educators in the schools and colleges that are part of the CEC family.
Mark Frascinella
Mark Frascinella has been with Briarcliffe College for two years, and is the Department Chair of Technology for both campuses. He holds a Master's Degree in Management Engineering and a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering & Astronautics. His computer industry certifications include Certified Novell Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate, and Cisco Certified Academy Instructor. Currently he is pursuing network security credentials. Although teaching and his students have been his main focus during the past several years, he has 30 years of industry experience in high technology applications, acting as Engineer, Programmer, Network Engineer, Project Manager, and Division Vice-President. Applications include LAN network design, substation automation software, military electronic power sub-systems, carrier communications systems, and radar and antenna systems. Frascinella's outside interests include the company of a devoted wife of 35 years, social dancing, free-lance writing, and flying as a licensed pilot.
Tom Lucero
Tom Lucero has 15 years experience in the Information Technology field. He has worked as an IT consultant for KPMG and Deloitte and Touche, and is curently performing Information Security work at Citigroup. Lucero has earned his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Hofstra University and holds industry certifications in Microsoft and Cisco networking, and in Information Security (CISSP).
Joseph Newman
Joseph Newman has an M.B.A. in Finance (with distinction) from Pace University, NYC, New York, which he received in September 1979. He earned his B.B.A. in Accounting (minor in Finance) from Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York in June 1976. He has many years of business experience holding various corporate management positions. Currently, he has his own practice, serving clients with their financial planning, money management, and income tax planning needs. Professor Newman's areas of expertise include accounting, finance, investing, and mathematics. He received his Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA) in 1979, has completed the educational program for the Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP) in 1997 and is a Licensed Series 7 stock broker with the NASD. He has been teaching at Briarcliffe College since 2001 and is currently a full time instructor in the business department. He has received many awards and recognition for his innovative teaching methods. He is involved in many extra-curricular activities including Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the Chess Club, and the Finance Club. He served as the Chair of the Faculty Senate during the 2004-2005 academic year and was the Grand Marshal of the 2005 graduation ceremonies. He also teaches as an adjunct professor in the accelerated MBA program at Dowling College, Oakdale, NY.
Nicholas Pasquarello
Nicholas Pasquarello brings twenty years experience in law enforcement to Briarcliffe. He holds an A.S. in criminal justice from Nassau Community College, and a B.A. and M.S. from the school of public service at Long Island University-C.W. Post Campus.
Robert Smith
Robert Smith graduated cum laude from Adelphi University with a BBA in accounting in 1973 after transferring from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied accounting for the first three years as an undergraduate. He graduated from CW Post with an MS in accounting and taxation in 1988. In 1984 he was outstanding graduate student at Post and was in Who's Who in Graduate Schools in the US. Professionally, he was an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co., a senior tax accountant with Bankers Trust Co.. He previously taught at St. Joseph's College as an adjunct instructor of Accounting and Business, and a full time instructor at Berkeley College. He has been with Briarcliffe College since 1994, and as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration. Smith is a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Management Association, the Tax Institute and Accounting Institute of CW Post College. He has had the honor of receiving the following awards at Briarcliffe College: the Chancellor's Award in 2001; Who's Who in America for Professors for two years in a row (2004 and 2005); the very first recipient of Briarcliffe's Crystal Apple Award; a mace bearer at graduation and performing the invocation at graduation.
JoAnne Romano
Jo-Ann Romano has a large list of degree: A.A.S-Fashion Institute of Technology-SUNY; BS-Business Marketing-Empire State College-SUNY; BA-English-Empire State College-SUNY and MSEd-Dowling College She is a LAN adminsitrator for a remedial math lab at Suffolk Community College and she does corporate computer training for Price Waterhouse Coopers through LaGuardia Community College.
Dr. Allen B. Zilbert
Dr. Allen B. Zilbert has been in the computer field since 1980. He holds a doctorate in computers from Columbia University. Besides his degree in computers, he has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from St. Johns University. At Briarcliffe College, Dr. Zilbert is an Associate Professor in the Technology Department. In addition to his teaching responsibility, he also is the Director of Academic Portal and Web Systems. Dr. Zilbert's expertise is in software development. In this concentration, his specialization is in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and bar code. While being in the business sector, he has developed applications for hospitals, insurance companies, hotels, lighting manufacturers, and pen distributors. Also, he was involved with the conversion of business applications written in COBOL for Y2K compliance.
